Sesquialtera

sesquialtera.jpgRecorded in May 2006, James Tibbles' first organ CD is also New Zealand's first commercial recording on an 18th century keyboard instrument. The specification and description of the restoration can be found in the Instruments section on the menu bar above.

The CD, entitled Sesquialtera, displays the extraordinary range of tone colours and effects possible on this wonderful organ, brilliantly restored by the English firm Goetze & Gwynn in 2005. The playing is lively and engaging, full of extempore embellishment and all the trappings of historically informed performance!

Included in the CD are performances of two Handel overtures and Billington's superb transcription of Corelli's Christmas Concerto.

The recording is available from leading retail outlets in New Zealand, or from the Age of Discovery - click HERE to proceed to the order page.
